We did some fun activities for my birthday this year! The weekend before my birthday Ryan and I went on a birthday date to see Jim Gaffigan in SLC:
On my actual birthday, I got breakfast in bed (overnight french toast), presents, door dashed Thai food, and a yummy chocolate chip cookie dough cake! I also put on Hyrum's class Christmas party at school and started not feeling well, so I got Covid tested. It had a negative result, so all's well that ends well.
For our family celebration of my birthday, we went to dinner at The Pizza Factory (I love their twisted breadsticks), then went to the Light the World vending machines:
The mall where the vending machines are also had some pretty lights to look at:
Then we went to a live nativity that supports refugees! I've never been to one of these, but they have a bunch of them in Utah valley, so it was a cool experience. We met a real donkey and llama:
The kids weaved some cloth from wool, saw an old-timey oven, and tried their hand at a log saw:
The kids also got to hold bunnies, which was definitely their favorite part of the experience:
I enjoyed the portrayal of Mary and Joseph and baby Jesus, because I thought their casting of Mary was perfect. She was full of pride for her baby, but also quiet and sweet, and seemed to be looking at all of us visitors with amazement and thought. It really made me think that that was probably how Mary really was at that sacred scene many years ago.
