Disneyland Summer 2023

Right after school got out our family took a trip to California. On our drive out we stopped to check out the Hoover Dam. It was cool to take a tour of the inner workings of the power plant and feel the ground shaking from all the water running underneath us.

Here we are inside the power plant with the big rotors that make electricity:

They use giant wrenches and bolts on the dam:

The view from the top of the dam!

We stopped in Las Vegas that night and the kids went swimming at the hotel. The next morning we stopped at the Las Vegas hotel on our way out. There was a kind man there who even opened the gate for us, even though it was Sunday:

The traffic was truly terrible from Vegas to Anaheim, so it took us 7 hours to get to California. The next day we went to Disneyland!

Here we are waiting for "rope drop":

We started out in Toontown to ride the new Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railroad ride. It was fun!

We met Daisy on Minnie Mouse's porch:

Then we went through Minnie's house:

Next we went through Mickey's house:

And we got to meet Mickey- he even gave the kids nose kisses and high fives!

The kids had fun messing around Toontown:

They got to play at the new Goofy's house and yard:

Then we went on Splash Mountain- it was the last day for the original Splash Mountain before it closed down to transform into Tian's ride, so we had to make sure to ride it. Ivy hated it, but the rest of us loved it!

Then we had lunch at the Blue Bayou restaurant inside of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. We got seated right by the water, and it was amazing!

The kids got to meet lots of characters, like Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, and Wendy:

Carrousel ride:

We had fun in Star Wars land- it really is a cool atmosphere:

We saw Kylo Ren and some Storm Troopers!

We met Mirabel near Thunder Mountain Railroad:

We went canoeing on the Rivers of America:
Ivy wasn't feeling very well that day, so after riding lots of rides, Ivy and I went back to the hotel. Ryan and the other kids stayed and rode a few rides again, including Splash Mountain:

Since it was Splash Mountain's last day ever, the line got super long at the end:

We had a great first day at Disney!
