We had a fun month of June, doing all the things!
Loved this "then and now":
Paper airplane contest! I did the worst (but I think I won most creative design), Hyrum and Cora both won a round:
We went to High School Musical the Musical at BYU:
Happy Father's Day to one of the very best Dads around! He got breakfast in bed, great presents, and the kids even wrote fun things about him:
Ryan and I had a great time going around to houses during the Parade of Homes, though Ryan says it was a really expensive date because then there was a bunch of stuff I wanted to do to our house, lol:
We also discovered our new favorite ice cream place, Creamworx, and have since been back a couple of times already even though it isn't very close to us:
I took Cora with me to a few houses when Ryan was busy:
The basement is a favorite place to be this summer since it has a big comfy couch and is cooler than the rest of the house. This first picture is Hyrum hiding from the world:
Lots of movies and karaoke in the basement this summer:
Soccer and frisbee at the park one day:
Ryan discovered taking pictures with .5 lens and the kids have been loving taking those pictures all month:
Ivy lost both her front teeth this month which has made it a bit difficult to eat apples, but Ivy managed by nibbling at the inside of this one:
We enjoyed being at Vineyard Heritage Days this month. We liked checking out the activities one day, like milking a pretend cow and tug of war:
We did the Vineyard Days race too! Me, Hyrum, and Cora ran the 5k and Zane and Ivy ran the 1k (Ryan had to help with the baptisms that morning so he couldn't run with us). Everyone did such a great job!
We loved going to the Provo Rec Center for some swimming this month (the DeVores came too!):
Zane had his UVU basketball camp this month and he had a great time going with some friends!
Ivy loves Cinnaholic, and they had a great deal one day that we just couldn't pass up!
Ivy had her first day of dance at her new studio this month! It was just a jazz class, her competition team starts in August:
Ivy LOVED her art camp at UVU this month! She loved learning about different artists and all the artwork they got to do. She especially loved doing it with her best friend:
Hyrum went to trek this month! He was such a trooper and went into it with such a great attitude. There were multiple kids who wanted to be his buddy on the trek, so he was lucky enough to end up with all of them in his family. He said it was good, except the last day when he had to do a bunch of hard hills when he thought they were almost done wasn't quite as good. They hiked around 30 miles and had intense wind almost the whole time. The wind got so bad that tents were blowing over and breaking all night the last night, but Hyrum's tent was ok. He spent that last night playing Skull King until late at night anyways. Hyrum enjoyed it though and was glad he went.
Bearing his testimony at the evening activities:
Hyrum was SO dirty when he got home! He took a shower then went straight to bed (it was around 4 pm in the afternoon). He didn't wake up again until around 8 pm, at which point he ate dinner, then went right back to bed and slept until 9 am the next morning. After that, we finally got to talk to him about trek and see our son again.
Ivy made this pretty flower at a friend's house this summer:
I saw a deer on campus this month!
Zane made grilled cheese and tomato soup for his "cooking camp" dinner this month:
Hyrum has been really loving growing things this past year, so we decided to get him going with a garden this summer and bought these raised beds. He has been loving it and is out there every day spending time in his garden. His peas and strawberries died early on, but the rest has been very successful!
Ivy even planted her sunflower that she started from a seed at school this spring, so she's been enjoying seeing it grow:
Cora's temple trip with the Young Women:
Zane has been in swim team this month, and Ivy has been in swim lessons. One morning I brought Ivy with me while Zane was at swim team hoping to get her practicing her swimming, but she did NOT want to do it:
Hyrum swam in a couple of swim meets this month, and one included him swimming an event he hasn't swam for a few years, so he got to swim it with a bunch of little kids, which you can see how much taller he is than the others in this picture:
We made homemade Oreo and chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream this month, and it was delicious!
Zane's cute little sculpture:
Hyrum earned his summer date first by reading the whole D&C quickly, so I took him to Panera bread for sinner, then to the Utah Symphony to see them play the music to Star Wars: A New Hope while the movie played. It was a really fun atmosphere, with a lot of people dressing up in Star Wars costumes and clapping and literally laughing out loud during the movie. The symphony was amazing, and it was really cool to pay more attention to the music than the movie:
Ivy and Zane have had a couple of lemonade stands this month, as well as a bracelet making stand with friends and they were loving it!
We painted some pottery at home this month, and I think everyone did a great job! Zane made a soccer plate, Cora made a cookie monster plate, I painted flowers on a plate, Hyrum made an under-the-sea mug, and Ivy made a #1 child mug. It was fun and way cheaper than doing it at Color Me Mine!
